About Leah Thompson MA, MSW, RSW

I have been a therapist for over 12 years, and I love my work. I am passionate about helping people achieve a deeper understanding of themselves and reach their full potential in life.

My work with clients is flexible, person-centered, and trauma informed. With humor and compassion, I strive to create a positive and collaborative relationship with my clients in order to create a safe space for self-exploration that inspires positive change.

I have more than 10 years of experience working with clients who have IBS and IBD, which has given me a unique understanding of  the mind-gut connection and therapies that bring symptom and stress relief to these clients. Many have high levels of anxiety and have experienced various forms of trauma that interfere with symptom management.

I specialize in anxiety management and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and I love to see my clients get results. Using Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), and Clinical Hypnosis, I have helped many clients to resolve their symptoms expediently and move onto the next phase in their lives. EMDR and ART help the brain to make new connections and acquire a more adaptive perspective on events that have caused them immense distress, suffering, and self-esteem loss.

Hypnosis is a powerful tool to help clients tap into internal resources to improve the mind-body connection, reduce stress and change unwanted behaviours and habits. I have expertise in gut-directed hypnosis for IBS and hypnosis for phobias about medical treatment.  I also use hypnosis for pain management, insomnia, smoking cessation and performance enhancement.

Together, we will choose the approach that is right for you and the challenges you face.
